Minister of National Security – Mr. Martin Joseph, needs to give the people of the Republic Trinidad and Tobago a credible explanation on the reversing of the decision to debar Bernard Campbell and so now allow him access to enter the country.
There have been much speculation as to why Mr Campbell was debarred in the first instance. It is our opinion that as an autonomous Nation our actions ought to be independent and free from all and any co-ercion from any outside party or Nation.
We support any Minister of National Security who acting in the best interests of the Republic Trinidad and Tobago takes independent and autonomous action to debar any person(s) from entering our country. When however such strong action is taken and is revoked or reversed the population needsa credible explanation for such reversal.
It is easy to perceive compromise of our autonomy when we remember instances of Patrick Manning meeting with then President of U.S.A. George W. Bush in his capacity as CARICOM Head of Government for crime and security and refused to reveal the content and outcome of such security meetings, and further security scenarios when International and World class cricket was subjected to U.S. ‘terrorist’ precautions as cricket was to be played in the Caribbean.
One never knows the agenda of the International and local forces that wish to see Caribbean Nations remain in conditions of economic stranglehold.
So Mr. Minister, please give the nation a credible explanation.
