DO SOMETHING FOR THE ANCESTORS.

Another year has passed and members of our National community once again observe, and celebrate Emancipation – the Act and the struggle led by our illustrious forbears and supported and championed in the spaces of government by philantrophists and others having another view to the then incumbent government.

Many times as others write our history, our own contributions to the fall of the economic and dehumanising activity called ‘Slavery “, leave out the proactive involvement of the guerrilla and sabotage actions of the enslaved population whose actions ensured that the claims made by some of the abolitionists were ” reasonable ” in light of the economic costs to the planter class and the government.

Our acts of resistance began on the African continent.

All persons who became aware of the desire of the foreigner to take them forever away from their place of nativity and origin resisted any attempt to deny them the full sphere of living. Life for many African people include how and where they shall be interred in the EARTH, and how they will transit to the next world. This passage of one state of life to another require family participation for the one in transition to properly sit in the ” new” space.

The “Slave Trade ” encoraged some of the enslaved to take desperate action, and so some threw themselves overboard the vessels on which they were transported.

Many died from newly encountered diseases. Many starved themselves to death.

Some went insane.

Some were thrown overboard as excess cargo.

All together sharks lined the route of these ” Slave Ships ”

Every year we at EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE call on the general public to honour our Ancestors by not consuming shark for one week in honour of our Ancestors who were eaten by sharks during that most traumatic aand infamous journey from continent to continent, and from continent to island.

Please refrain from EATING and CONSUMING SHARK AND ALL SHARK BASED AND INCLUDED PRODUCTS from today JULY27. 2010 –

  1. Blessed Emancipation Day 2010!
You presented a very informative piece. May Olodumare continue to bless u for your contributions. Emancipation for me means that many of our brothers and sisters have begun to wake up from years of drowsy sleep, and emancipated themselves from Mental Slavery and have also begun to Realign themselves with our Royal Legacy. May the Egunguns always enlighten our ways and bring back to us what was lost on the way! Ashe!

Thank you Carlene for your visit to our site and your appreciation of the material presented. Thanks for your positive observation of the state and conciousness of some of our people: and I do hope that as we awake it will not be in stupor, but in awareness of ourselves and surroundings. May our Ancestors continue to bless you as well. Oloye Orawale Oranfe
