As Trinbagonians open up for Parang, Christmas , Eid – ul -Fitr , Carnival – Steel band competitions, Calypso, band launches etc. let us all take time to acknowledge the custodians of these lands before the coming of Europeans and Cristobal Colon – Christopher Colombus.
In recent times there has been efforts by persons of the Indigenous Peoplescommunities to highlight their continued prescence and contributions to our land and Nation.
Many citizens still have not responded or are even aware that Original Inhabitants – Indigineous Peoples exist in our country’s profile and make up.
The period set aside for this recognition is October 14th. every year.
At this time visiting families of Amerindian Peoples in the Caribbean Basin visit their family in Ile – Iere and sing ,dance, cook. share traditions from their past, discuss current developments in their National communities especially as it impacts upon them as Indigenous and First Nation Peoples.
So as you begin to plan for year end activities note that our First Nation Peoples are still in our midst and they need to be given their due respect.
Organise fora in your communities to deal with and focus on the needs and contributions of Indigenous People of our Nation.
EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE and the Administrators of this site salute all of our Indigenous and Native Peoples and pray that the current government will improve upon the recognition given to the Indigenous People by the former Administration led by the P. N.M.
