GRAND SUCCESS AT THIS YEAR’S ASE ODUN OLOKUN

As several communities engage the Carnival in their own unique way, EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE,engaged and engages this year’s Carnival activies in a number of ways.

One such way was ASE ODUN OLOKUN, which this year was held at  the boundaries between MAYARO and MANZANILLA.

Members, well- wishers, supporters and friends, gathered at the mouth of the Ortoire River where the Atlantic Ocean meets with it along the Manzanilla beach, South of the beach facilities.

The morning was opened with prayer at the International Headquarters of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE, located at Petit Valley, Ile-Iere, Republic Trinidad and Tobago.

THE SUMMON TO THE ORISA  was made at 4.53a.m.This was later followed by adura ati se – orisa led by Olori of Egbe omo Orisa Olokun  of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE- Rubadiri Victor. Rubadiri was assisted in his incantations by Oloye Ogunrinola of Ife -Ogunbowale Alupaida, Atona in training – Omidotun Adekoya, Agba Ogundiran Ogunkeye and Oloye Orawale Oranfe of Ife – Balogun of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE.

AFTER THE PRAYERS,INVOCATIONS AND INCANTATIONS AT THE INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS,those present left to join with others awaiting them in Port – of -Spain at the ‘Leaning Lighthouse’.

From there the Festival delegation tavelled up to Manzanilla/Mayaro, stopping at time to time to gather other participants.

There were several telephone calls received along the route as persons prayed and wished us well enroute and at the Festival.

Once arrived at the entrance to the location we met with several other persons awaiting us there.

The participants then gathered at a previously prepared and selected site where the ceromony and rituals began. Several participants were called upon to offer prayer and thanks to OLOKUN.

Manifestations then became apparent. The pace was being intensified in both the celestial and terrestial arenas.Bodies were quivering, persons were rolling the peal of the Olokun bell the atmosphere  and space was charged with the Olokun energy.

Ritual action led by divinities then followed. Offerings were laid in theprescribed manner at the various selected spots, the fire blazed, and soon the participants gathered moved towards the sea’s edge. Further incantations led by Babalwo Ifakorede of NIGERIA,and Oloye Orawale Oranfe Ife took place. The orisa on the bodies of human beings were all around, participating, giving benedictions, giving directions and advice on ritual actions to be taken.

It was time for dida obi. Babalawo Ifakorede went in with the first leg. This was followed by Oloye Orawal Oranfe of Ife going in with the second leg. Both responses were excellent there was much congratulations and hugging and shouts of  joy as the oceans waves began to dance and join in the celebrations.

The obi had spoken in EJIRE being cast in the permutation EDI.

E K’abo! Welcome and thanks for visiting our site and for your interest in this article and for determining to acquire information as to criteria for becoming omo Olokun. As you suggested I shall email you. However, there are still aspects of Orisa sacred science and practice that may be appropriately discussed here.
According to some Elders and interpretations of the sacred science system, every human being enters the Earth space with orisa assigned to them. This is best discovered through consultation with Ifa, through a competent and bonafide babalawo/diviner.
One may also be ” taken by the orisa ” and guided to a space/place where the orisa resides/ is domicile through a sacred and consecrated place dedicated to the orisa, and the priest (ess) of the orisda will then determine the authencity of the manifestation.
In the Diaspora we have what we describe as having a ” calling ” and this may manifest itself in several ways including dreams and the hearing of voices.
In general we nin the Diaspora and Caribbean in particular claim that we do not select nor choose the orisa, but that it is the orisa that selects or chooses us.
Thank you again for your enquiry and I hope this comment satisfies some of your interest.
      Oloye Orawale Oranfe
