Once again another year is about to roll by and Ojise Obatala ,Edena in Ife, – Oloye Oriyomi Orisagbemi is hosting the 8th Annual Obatala Festival .
The Festival pays respect to the role and importance of OBATALA in the life of orisa devotees. Obatala is the orisa of immaculateness and “whiteness”. Obatala is associated with creativity, moral uprightness and integrity ,purity of thought and understanding.
The convener of the Festival Oloye Oriyomi is an initiate member of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE, and has contributed significantly to African and Yoruba culture and organizations. Ojise took the bamboo ” fu fu ” trumpet used by Mau – Mau School of Drums and introduced it to the Obatala Festival in Ile – Ife.
Oloye Oriyomi is being assisted by his wife Olori Yemoo – Agba Iretiola and all members of his family.
All members of the orisa community are invited.
Free will offerings by participants and attendees to the Festival will be accepted. Recommended items are white yams, milk , white obi , shea – butter,,white cloth , snail, white pigeons, honey white roses, white anthuriums and other items of votive offering peculiar to Obatala.
On THE PRECCEDING SATURDAY there will be a WOMEN’S DAY .
