Trinidad& Tobago is ripe and ready for the Annual ASE ODUN OLOKUN hosted by EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE for several long years now.
At their earlier events , the Festival was closed to the general public as only members of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE participated in establishing ASE ODUN OLOKUN on our National calendar of Orisa Festivities .
When the Administration became more comfortable and secure they opened up the Festival to the general public.
They them moved the Festival all over the coasts and wetlands of Republic Trinidad & Tobago restoring environmental harmony to disrupted and abused environments. These Festivals became so powerful that they changed the tides of governance in our country.
The time saw just one organization hosting and treating with OLOKUN. Our people then were unfamiliar with OLOKUN being accustomed to YEMOJA as our Ocean divinity. REVOLUTION was taking place in the Orisa deity landscape. During this time , our then PRIME MINISTER – ARTHUR NAPOLEON ROBINSON RECEIVED THE CHIEFTAINCY TITLE – CHIEF OLOKUN IGBARO .
As we have pointed out in earlier and other fora. Trinidad & Tobago has been blessed with recipients of the Olokun titles of our Motherland.
The Festival has grown and this year it has been indicated that E.I.S.O.M. and Ile Osun/ Obatala will be hostinf Olokun Festivals. CONGRATULATIONS !
The Elders at EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE have consulted and the date for this year’s ASE ODUN OLOKUN is Saturday 24th. September ,2011. The location will be once again at Dhein’s Bay , Western Main Road , Carenage , where it is hoped that ritual intervention will help focus attention on the need to save our sea grasses and preserve a healthy fishery resource in the Gulf of Paria.
Do keep logged in and stay attuned for reminders as we move towards this year’s celebration .
Once again we invite your comments and suggestions for a better ASE ODUN OLOKUN 2011.
