Ojise Obatala leads work team gathering materials

Preparing for Obatal Festival 2011 in Ile - Iere.

Another year has passed us by. and Orisa and Ifa devotees worldwide are gaining ground.

Several years ago under the dynamic leadership and example of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE, some Orisa devotees in Ile – Iere began throwing of the vestiges of psychological and spiritual enslavement that followed some of us after the Emancipation Proclamation. EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE led the way in attempting to synchronise Festival dates with those in Yorubaland and to set in motion time cycles consistent with our Ancient Sacred Science systems. The leadership of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE instituted as part of its time reference lunar years and began marking it’s own year opening with the Odun Ijesu – Celebration of the harvesting ,feeding of Eegun with New Yam and eating of the New Yam by the human community.

Among the recognitions made wasthe pivotal role of ORISANLA  – Obatala  and the organization was fortunate to have  devotees in it’s membership that were designated  omo Obatala. Among these were Chief Oriyomi Orisagbemi a Pan African Nationalist  proactive community organizer , who through hard work, committment and personal self sacrifice was able to return to the homeland and in accordance with the preference of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE select as the place of initiation Ile – Ife , the Cradle of Civilization. The SOURCE. IT WAS AT THAT INITIATION THAT ORIYOMI WAS HONOURED AS OJISE OBATALA EDENA.

Success comes from preparation.

Year to year since the inception of Obatala Festival at the home of Ojise Obatala Edena, the Festival has grown in quality and in number of participants to the Festival. From small and humble beginnings the Festival is continuously growing.
