Friday 5th. October, 2012 marked the opening of this years Annual Ogun Festival hosted by Ile Isokan, Ifebo Compound, 8 Niles Trace, Febeau Village, San Juan.
About one week ago Babalawo Somorin Olatunji drawed down IKAOBARA, the Odu, that will guide Ile Isokan and Festival participants until next year’s celebrations.
Members of EGBE ONISIN ELEDUMARE, including Oloye Orawale Oranfe were present. The Festival opened with a welcome by Oloye Ogunrinola – Ogunbowale Alupaida, and some information on the compound’s background , history and origin were presented by Oloye Ogunrinola.
Among other guests and participants gathered were Agba Olusino Awise at Eko Ile Sango/ Osun Mi’losa, Chief Baba Yeye, Oluwo Ogunmuyiwa of Egbe Omo Oduduwa.
There was general discussions on the message contained in the sacred Odu IKA OBARA, and on other relevant issues impacting upon the orisa community in Ile Iere ati Ile Aloubera.
Several participants were given the opportunity for iwure, and among these were Agba Sangolari Adelekan who pleade for unity in the Orisa community of Ile -Iere ati Ile – Aloubera.
There were drum and song presentations and renditions and Adimu offerings to Esu, Ogun ati Eegun.
Chiefs and Shrine Heads/ Leaders were invited to a prepared food sharing as well as all guests present.
The Festival activities continued briefly after and persons theen left for their respective destinies.
The event was free of any ill incidents and participants gather again today at 6.00p.m.
Ile Isokan will be hosts to the COUNCIL OF TRADITIONAL AFRIKAN CHIEFS OF TRINIDAD & TOBAGO , who meet every first Saturday of the calendar month.
